StellarisWare integration with CCSv5

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430WARE

Hi,

I'm new to stellaris. Been working on c2000 for a while in control applications. Now for ethernet to CAN/Uart I/O cards we are looking at stellaris. First question: I installed CCSv5 recently. MSP430ware and Control Suite were shown on the welcome page. Then i installed StellarisWare seperately. Now is there any way to get stellarisWare on the CCS welcome page. The control suite and MSP430 resource explorer on CCSv5 kind of rocks.. Is there anything similar for Stellaris?

Thanks,

Vivek

  • I'd interested in the answer to this problem also. I installed EK-LM4F120XL-CCS over the existing CCSv5 installation and it did not add anything.

  • Hi Vivek,

Unfortunately, we do not currently have a CCS resource explorer plugin for StellarisWare.  We do have a wealth of sample projects and documentation that are included in the StellarisWare installation, though.

If you are interested in learning about a specific peripheral, I would recommend first looking through that peripheral's chapter of the Stellaris Peripheral Driver Library User's Guide, which can be found in your StellarisWare installation directory at StellarisWare/docs/SW-DRL-UG-<version>.pdf.  Or, you can download it at http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/spmu019o/spmu019o.pdf.  Once you have read through the documentation for a peripheral, I'd recommend looking over some sample code that uses that peripheral, which can be found at StellarisWare/boards/<board_designator>/.  It should be pretty simple to tell which projects use which peripherals for what type of functionality, but you can always look over the Example Applications chapter (chapter 2) of the Firmware Development Package document that came with your board, installed at StellarisWare/docs/SW-<board_designator>-<version>.pdf.

Sorry we don't have exactly what you're looking for, but hopefully the resources mentioned above will contain enough information to be useful.

  • Now is there any way to get stellarisWare on the CCS welcome page?

    Yes, there is:

    1. Click on the link "Configure Resource Explorer to discover examples, documentation and generates a resource package" at the bottom of the TI Resourche Explorer page.

    2. In the popup window (Package Configuration) click on the button "Add". Then browse the disk directory to find the installation directory (probably at C:\ti\StellarisWare), and click on the OK button.

    3. You will be returned to the Package Configuration window. Click on the OK button.

    4. Wait until CCS finishes scanning the newly registered directory.

    5. Enjoy it!

  • Thanks Istvan,

Got it to work.. Though there is no neat plugin on right side of the screen similar to CS and MWare. Stellarisware still shows up in the list, which is good enough..

    Thanks..
