TMS570 nPORRST & nRST Pins

Hi there,

I have some questions regarding nPORRST and nRST pins of TMS570.

1) Do I need both pins reset when TMS570 is powered on? Or nPORRST alone is enough?

2) What if two active low pulses (~ 200 ms) are applied at both nPORRST and nRST at the same time? (Although it's a weird question but please answer it for me)

The reason why I ask the two questions above is because right now I am using two MAX811 (pwr-on reset) chips which are connected to nPORRST and nRST individually. The problem I have is that TMS570 occasionally resets correctly and sometimes it doesn't.

Brent,

(1) You only need to reset nPOORST at power-up.

(2) On all TI EVMs and HDKs, the reset pulse only goes to nPORRST pin. nRST is normally pulled up to 3.3V via a resistor.

Which TMS570 device are you using. There is an intermittent power up issue in the initial silicon of TMS570LS3137. But it is corrected in rev B silicon.

I am not aware of any power up issue on TMS570LS20216.
