XDS560 comparison

Hello. It's my first time using any of the tools Blackhawk XDS560v2 System Trace USB Emulator and XDS560 PCI JTAG Emulator so I have a few questions before buying any of them.

Do they provide me with full debugging capabilities?

What's the difference in speed?

Is it necessary additional hardware for the System Trace USB or just a simple USB type A for the PC and a USB type B for the JTAG and the pin connector for the board I'm developing? Does it come with many pinout  options (14, 20 ...) or only one?

Is it necessary additional hardware for the XDS560 PCI JTAG Emulator, other than installing the PCI and its drivers and a pin connector for the board I'm developing? Does it come with many pinout  options (14, 20 ...) or only one?

What's the main difference between both? Other than the price.

Any advice about which one to get?

  • Pablo,

The XDS560 PCI is an obsolete product.
I will recommend the Blackhawk XDS560v2.
In the package you will have:

    Adapter for MIBI60 to TI14-1
    Adapter for MIBI60 to cTI20-1
    Adapter for MIBI60 to TI60-1
    Adapter for MIBI60 to ARM20-1

The emulator pod connects to the PC via a USB cable provided (2 USB type A are necessary on the PC, 1 for DATA and 1 for Power)
On the pod side the cable is USB mini B type.

The performance are similar between the 2 options.

The BlackHawk XDS560v2 is more versatile. It can be used on a laptop and has also ethernet remote debug capability.

  • Thnak you very much. I'll buy  Blackhawk XDS560v2 System Trace USB Emulator since I don't need ethernet debugging
