IAR examples for EK-LM4120

Hi there,

I just installed the IAR workbench for the EK-LM4120 downloaded from your site. I noticed it has an example folder for the other (and much more expansive) kit the M4232 but I could not see any for the MF120. There is any way to download examples for that kit, or should I use code composer if I want to star learning this uC?

Regards,

Paulo

  • I think you mean the Stellaris Launchpad LM4F120XL... if so -- go to the Launchpad page and download the software, the videos etc. Visit the training wiki. The one day course is well worth the the time. All this can be found on the Launchpad page. There are about 10 videos that walk you through the course workbook and examples.

The Stellarisware -- found at that link will have lots of examples.

    http://www.ti.com/ww/en/launchpad/stellaris_head.html

    Hope that helps.

  • Dear Dave,

First of all, I am surprised you r working on Sunday. Congrat. and thanks a lot. Then, I would like to ask you for a link to download a folder (directory) containning all the files I would use to work with the Stellaris Launchpad LM4F120XL on IAR tool just like the I have seen for the 232 kit. If there is not such a folder, that´s ok, I can go thru the site an find a way to start trying out the kit, but I just want to be sure before doing so.

    Best Regards,

    Paulo

  • Some of us don't get days off... We do not all live the idyllic lives of students. I am working on my own Launchpad projects today -- same board.

You did get the link. You also got the explanation. Download the latest Stellarisware. I assure you it has a folder for the Stellaris Launchpad. I know this because I worked through the tutorials (One day work shop with 10 videos) and I loaded the latest Stellarisware -- after carefully preserving my work on other boards.

You have the link you need. Work your way through the Launchpad site and all will be revealed.

You could also just search for the latest Stellarisware -- it will show up on a search. However, the Launchpad page will take you to that, the Wiki, the Boosterpaks and much more.

You did look -- didn't you?

  • Dave,

I assure you I did downlod ans installed the IAR workbench from stellarisware yesterday, and the workspace mentioned below (I took it from the EK-LM4F120XL-IAR Example Software User's Guide wich was installed yesterday) is not in my HD. Should I dowload it again? Is there another place to get it? It qould help me a lot, couse I am not used to create workspaces, and getting one ready (like that mentioned below).

    Thanks

    Paulo

"There is an IAR workspace file (ek-lm4f120xl.eww) that contains the peripheral driver library
project,  USB  library  project,  and  all  of  the  board  example  projects,  in  a  single,  easy  to  use
workspace for use with Embedded Workbench version 6."

  • Paulo:

    IAR Workbench is from IAR.

    Stellarisware is from Texas Instruments.

They have nothing to do with each other. IAR Workbench can use the examples and Libraries from TI (Stellarisware). Make sure you get the full version, and install it in the default directory. Just type Stellaris ware in the Search box on the main TI site -- or easier still -- go to the link I gave earlier -- everything is on one page.

I also recommend that you download the Code Composer Studio (CCS V5.x) and install it. Again, install all options and all processors -- you may someday add processors and it is easier to install everything from the beginning.

The course and the videos use CCS V5.x

If you can't find everything you need on the first link I gave you -- The Launchpad Page -- then I give up!

  • Dave,

    1) The worspace "ek-lm4f120xl.eww"   is  mentioned in a PDF file (page 7) named "SW-EK-LM4F120XL-UG-9453.pdf," with a big logo from TI in the 1st page. Obviously they have at least this document from TI relating each other.

    2) Using or not code composer, was the first question I did. Anyway, now I know, and thanks for the answer.
