Connecting LaunchPad to an external device

This is not a built-in feature as it is with some of the older evaluation boards.  However, the JTAG signals are exposed through a set of pads.  You could add stake headers or your own jtag cable there and connect to your other target.  You will also need to hold the Stellaris in reset or you will have two conflicting jtag targets.

OK. So if i solder a cable to the JTAG pads, then I'll be able to connect to another target and program it via JTAG interface, right?

I believe that if I remove the jumper (the only one on the board), I won't need to hold the on board micro in the reset. What do you think?

Does the external device have to be a LM4F or both LM4F and LM3S devices are supported?

It'll be LM4F.

actually my question has already been answered. I just need to remove the jumper on the launchpad board and solder the cable to the spare JTAG pads. Then I need to connect the other end of the cable to my target microcontroller (which will be LM4F).
