Stellaris LM4F120 LaunchPad installation difficulty

I am trying to get something to happen with my LM4F120 Launch Pad. Following directions gets me to this page. The link to the driver installation guide (under Hardware Setup and Driver Installation) is broken. Please advise.

  • First things first.

Dear user, you have a better link to start learning about the ARM. I hope you are new to the world of ARM. Let me share some links with you.

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Getting_Started_with_the_Stellaris_EK-LM4F120XL_LaunchPad_Workshop?DCMP=Stellaris&HQS=stellarislaunchpadworkshop

Use that as the main source of information to practice the Stellaris EK-LM4F120XL launchpad.

Download the file called WORKBOOK.pdf . IT is the KEY!!

It has what you need to install from the beggining. You must not exchange the steps but do them in the given order.

you may if you want also refer,

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Getting_Started_with_StellarisWare%C2%AE_and_the_ARM%C2%AE_Cortex%E2%84%A2-M4F_Workshop

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Getting_Started_with_StellarisWare_Workshop

Notice stellaris ware is a set of tools provided by TI for easy coding. It makes coding really really easy. it gives you libraries etc so you can easilly kick start coding your application.

  • Thanks, Amalinda, for your thorough response. Yes, the workbook is definitely what was missing/causing difficulty for me.

Links, it seems, are hard to keep live around here. On the page you referred me to, the lab installation file link is dead. I would appreciate advice on this.

  • Look for the title:

    Workshop Material

There is a link there as well -- that one works.

The starting point for all the Launchpad material is here:

    http://www.ti.com/ww/en/launchpad/home_head.html?DCMP=Value_Line&HQS=launchpad

    Good luck.

  • you may refer this link and the 10 videos describing all major functions of this processor.  If the link doesnt work, seach on google for " Getting Started with the Stellaris EK-LM4F120XL LaunchPad Workshop"

You may also want to check on TI's new operating system that supports the processor you currently use. Its called TI RTOS . its free and you may use it for advance applications or for practise.

some other links that may be of use to you. check if you are further interested.

    link 1

    link 2

    link 3

good luck with your new board :-)

  • Thanks again,  Amalinda. I am really looking forward to working with that RTOS, something I have never enjoyed before. Fortunately, this chip has the power to accommodate both the RTOS and my application. And my job will be made easier by the Grace-like IDE.
