Trace possible without BGA

Hi there,

i ´ve read a post which recommended using BGA variant for tracing, but i didn´t get if thats mandatory or recommended...

I´m using an TMS570LS20216ASPGE (hardware cannot be changed) - and my question is as follows: is there any kind of trace possible?

    Hello dominik,

    I had a look at the datasheet http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tms570ls20216.pdf into the section 2.4 Pin Assignments - ETM (embedded trace macrocell) pins are included only within the ZWT device (BGA package). Similar situation with RTP (RAM Trace Port) which can be accessible with some more expensive emulators (Lauterbach, iSystem,..) - not available on the PGE device.

    Sorry, but it does seem that only way for you is normal 20pin JTAG interface without trace feature.
