TMS470PSFC61 OTP is blank

Hi,

I have a customer return of an F035 flash device which after analysis by TI was sent back to the customer for re-testing. On connection to their application board, they realized that the entire flash was blank. The strange part is that the flash OTP also appears blank. No erasing of the flash was attempted at TI before the unit was returned to the customer.

I would understand that the flash region could be erasable but would it also be possible to erase the OTP as well? If not, i was wondering if an improper input voltage is probably the reason why the OTP is being read as blank, although it perhaps it is not.

Any idea why such a condition is possible?

  • Hi Arun,

Sorry for my tardiness on getting back.

Yes it is possible to erase the OTP using special bits. But I can't yet think of how you can just end up with blank flash if previously it was valid. Are you reading all Fs or 0s?

  • Hi Abhishek,

Thank you for your reply. I eventually did find out that the OTP could be erased using special bits but could there be any chance of it being done accidentally? I troubling part is that the device is claimed to be in working condition after testing was completed at TI. The part does connect to CCS via JTAG, the device can be identified as well, the only problem is that the entire flash including the OTP reads all Fs.

Could there perhaps just be an issue with reading the region correctly via CCS? I am using CCS v3.3 and SD XDS510USB for the JTAG access.

  • Hello,

Can you check the state of the VCCP (flash pump power supply) terminal? This needs to be a minimum of 3V.
