Is SW-USB-win-9453.msi Windows 7 x64 compatible?

Hello All,

I am working on the "Getting Started with the Stellaris® EK-LM4F120XL LaunchPad Workshop Student Guide and Lab Manual"

Page 7-9, Step 6:

Make sure that you installed the StellarisWare Windows-side USB examples from www.ti.com/sw-usb-win as shown in module one. In Windows, click Start > All

Programs> Texas Instruments > Stellaris > USB Examples > USB Bulk Example.

The window below should appear:

When we attempt to install the SW-USB-win-9453.msi the following error is encountered:

"This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."

We are using:

Microsoft Windows 7 Professional Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601 x64

Please help us resolve this issue!

Lou,

This sounds like a permissions issue with your windows 7 settings. You need to be logged in as an Administrator.

Right click on the installer and select "Run as administrator."

Dear Lela,

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Our IT person tried to install it on my computer and was logged in as administrator went we encountered the error. She believe it had something to do with the program not supporting 64 bit. Can you confirm if the program does support 64 bit?

I have 64 bit machine with windows 7 and installed it. It has been some time ago that I did it, so I will do a remove and reinstall...and follow up with a report of my steps.

I did a uninstall and reinstall...I did not encounter any issues. I am logged in as an administrator. You may want to have your IT person look at your firewall settings and network settings. We updated all of the USB tools to work on a 64bit machines some time ago. Typically reports of issues such as your are due to windows 7 settings.

Lela,

We resolved the issue by running the program directly from the website instead of attempting to download it to the computer first then intsall it. I just wanted to follow up in case anyone in the future reads this thanks for your help.
