LM4F device programming with one of EK-LM3Sxxx

 Hi,  I suppose you are pointing to ICDI that come with LM3S EK, this programmer has a 20 pin .1" connector and two fine pitch 10 pin port so if you designed your board to use one of these you are in hurry, if a custom socket is in place then adapting ICDI or launchpad is same level.

So I am ok with my LM3S EK, and I will proceed this way.

But, just for our information, if neither LM4F EK, nor LaunchPad have Debug Out capability, which platform is best suited for the job?

For completeness - you may also consider a "real" JTAG Probe (such as J-Link, U-Link, or similar).  These "plug in" to the LX4F-EVM - but not launchpad.

Our group/many others find JTAG Probes superior to FTDI based ICDI.  (criteria being: speed, robustness & ease of use...)

Believe that CCS vendor offers similar probe as well.

Having JTAG Probe is probably the most convenient. However you can use serial interface to program your board by using the serial code loader if the serial is available on your board.

Our use of "Debug" far exceeds that "final moment" - when program runs correctly - and has absorbed all of client's "last minute" changes/mods.  Thus - serial interface may not be in the same, "Value Class" as real JTAG Probe.
