Is Stellarisware SSD2119 TFT driver compatible with a SSD1289 TFT controller?

I like to finish the the great Stellaris Launchpad tutorial with its 10th lesson

where a 3.5" TFT is needed. As the boosterpack which is used is only

avaliable for much money I decided to buy a much cheaper 2.4" TFT

for only $13 (instead of $77). At arrival I saw that it uses another

controller called SSD 1289.

Can I use it instead of the expensive 3.5" TFT working on the SSD 2119?

Anyone any idea?

Thanks a lot and sorry for my bad english.

regards

Peter

  • SSD is designation of Solomon-Systech - long a maker of LCD & TFT Controllers.  Their website should describe both Controllers - and with some patience you should receive both data manuals - post request.

While 13 USD seems attractive - "figures of merit" for TFTs include: Contrast, Viewing Angle, Backlight Brightness and operating temperature.  Discount displays usually suffer in some/many such areas - and their "continued" availability - most always is suspect/doubtful.  (you may find yourself in the unfortunate situation of both MCU and TFT -> NRND!)   Caveat Emptor...
