programming the RM48L952

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: RM48L952

I have a Stellaris LM4f120H5QR Laugnpad board.

this following link explains how to use the Laughpad to program an external processor.

http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Stellaris_LM4F120_LaunchPad_Debug_How_To

This is really really helpful for students who cant afford to buy jtags/programmers and it even allows debugging which is great!

can someone pls tell me for which processors I could use this method?

im sure I can use this for the whole stellaris family

but can i program a RM48L952  using this method?

what about TMS470? or c2000?

are their special programmers to program these devices?

can somone tell me the devices I can program using this?

your responses would be really helpful and valued.

  • Amalinda,

For the TMS570 and TMS570M (and many other TI processors) there is a product called XDS100v2 that supports debug.

It costs about $50-$100 depending on where you buy it.   I've actually bought a couple from Ebay (MDfly store) and they worked fine.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/XDS100-USB2-0-DSP-JTAG-Emulator-Support-TI-CCS-V4-x-XDS100V2-Compatible-/300850759897?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item460c1a48d9

You can use CCS for free with this emulator.

Note that it's also built into many of our low cost eval kits,  like the USB stick and CNC card.  So it may be easier for you to get a kit with an emulator built in.

    There's a listing of kits here:  http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Category:TMS570

The USB sticks I think are <$100,  and the CNC cards are usually $100 - $150 range.

Good luck and glad to hear you're looking at these products.

  • Hi Amalinda,

Thanks for your post.  Sorry to tell you that the Stellaris ICDI only support the Stellaris chips. You can't use it to program our Hercules or C2000 products because they have different protocols and drivers .   However, just as Anthony said,  you can buy the XDS100V2  JTAG Emulator and use this to program the Hercules(RM4x, TMS570, TMS470) and C2000 chips.  It will cost $79 and you can get if from TI eStore :  https://estore.ti.com/TMDSEMU100v2U-14T-XDS100v2-USB-JTAG-Emulator-14-pin-TI-connector-P1844.aspx

Hope that this may help you.

    Best Regards,
    Shelford
