RM48 with IAR

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HALCOGEN

I am trying to get a basic HalcoGen App to run using IAR IDE.  The code seems to get stuck in mapClocks().  The same setting for HaloGen worked fine in CCS.

    /* Work Around for Errata SYS#46:
     *
     * Errata Description:
     *            Clock Source Switching Not Qualified with Clock Source Enable And Clock Source Valid
     * Workaround:
     *            Always check the CSDIS register to make sure the clock source is turned on and check
     * the CSVSTAT register to make sure the clock source is valid. Then write to GHVSRC to switch the clock.
     */
 /** - Wait for until clocks are locked */
    while ((systemREG1->CSVSTAT & ((systemREG1->CSDIS ^ 0xFFU) & 0xFFU)) != ((systemREG1->CSDIS ^ 0xFFU) & 0xFFU))
    {
 } /* Wait */

  • Hi Allen,

         Thanks for your post. I haven't try our HALCoGen in the IAR IDE before and  don't have it on my computer.    I will try get some version of IAR IDE and install it.  Would you please post your project? Then I can find where the problem lies.  Thanks.

  • I was able to get the target working, but I had to pull power from it.  This worries me that the part can get into a mode where a power cycle is required to unhang it.

  • Hi Allen,

               We haven't met this problem in CCS. So this must be a software problem, maybe it's because the compatibility of HALCoGen and IAR IDE. Why don't you have a try on CCS?  CCS V5 has a great improvement compared with old versions.BTW,  now CCS5.3 just came out and it is definitely worth a try. Besides, most of our examples are based on CCS and Hercules related tools and CCS are more mutually compatible than IAR IDE. Of course, you will get more and better support from TI if use CCS.

               Have a nice weekend.Thanks.

        Best Regards,
        Shelford

  • I have tried CCS and have had similar issues.  I am evaluating different tools now, which is why I am looking at IAR
