Automotive ECU project

Hi!

I'm looking for a development board to use in the automotive
industry. The purpose is to have a central control unit, having
responsibility over sensors located at the throttle/brake pedals as
well as the steering wheel. The node should also gate messages
between two different CAN intefaces.

The board must have the following:
1xMCU/MPU
2xCAN channels
Support for a real time operating system (like FreeRTOS)

What different development boards do you recommend for this
particular case? What different RTOSes do you recommend?

Andreas,

I am not familiar with FreeRTOS but I know that TI's TMS570 Hercules MCUs have 3 DCAN ports. The Product page for one of the devices in this family is below. It also has a development platform that is available. I can get you in touch with one of the engineers in that department if you are interested. Please let me know.

From your other post, I presume you have already identified the Hercules platform of microcontrollers as ideally suited to safety-critical applications, including automotive braking, stability control and power steering. Hello Andreas,

FreeRTOS is supported on the TMS570.

The demo project appears to be built for the USB stick eval kit and you could use this for initial eval. However you would likely want to port this to the following kit for full functionality:
