Damaged Stellaris Launchpad

After impact on board from static electricity, Stellaris Launchpad is no longer defined in Windows. Devices Stellsris Launcpad (virtual com port, etc.) do not appear in the Device Manager (in different PC).

Is it possible to recover Stellaris Launcpad? Or must be ordered a new board with which to debug the main controller if it is not damaged.

  • If your computer isn't recognizing it now and it did before then it is most likely you fried your board. I would suggest ordering a new one.

I would also suggest getting an antistatic wrist strap in the future,

  • Pardon - but perhaps the self-diagnosis of ESD is premature or in error.  No support for such diagnosis is provided - in past-life our group used pro "static guns" to test various devices - while ESD is to be minimized/avoided - we've found Stellaris and other ARMs to be surprisingly robust.  (I am not advocating ESD abuse - simply reporting)

Challenge also assertion that, "loss of commo" is "most likely" fried board.  Sue Cozart's post - atop this forum - details the horrors of "lost JTAG" - far more prevalent imho...

This said - does it not make sense to attempt LMI Programmer's Utility/Recovery mode?   So often a program mistake upon Port_C will cause "loss of JTAG" - presenting with poster's exact symptoms - and which can quickly/easily be corrected via this method.  Surely beats "paying/ordering again" - and bringing new board into such, (self-proclaimed) ESD-Rich Zone...

As always - employ LMI Programmer in a proper, ESD-Safe area...  The launchpad MCU is of Blizzard class.  (required entry during recover mode)

  • Well, this is interesting ...
but the way to the "lost JTAG" works with intact Stellaris IDCI.
If I plug an external JTAG-programmer to Debug Breakout Pads on Stellaris launchpad, can I with LM Flash Programmer do unlock port controller with Stellaris IDCI?

  • I do not believe that (suggested) LMI Flash Programmer has yet extended to JTAG.  (thus you raise good point)

Note there are two LX4F devices on your board - one does serve as ICDI - worth at least your try...  (select Blizzard option)

Commo path would be:  PC -> USB Cable -> launchpad.    Cost/effort is little - may save you time + money...
