ASIL D for TMS570LS04x/03x

Hello!

TMS570LS04x/03x have only one ADC, instead of dual ADC with common channels. On the other hand they have calibration logic which can be used to determine if ADC results are correct. Are there any recommendations or examples on how to use single ADC to conform ISO 26262ASIL D?

    Have you had the chance to read the safety manual for TMS570LS04x/03x? You can find it here: http://www.ti.com/litv/pdf/spnu552

    In Section 5.17 the safety mechanisms applicable to the ADC are described.

    To briefly answer your question:

    Whether a single ADC is sufficient for ISO 26262 ASIL D is dependent on the application.

    Factors like(but not limited to):

    • system safety architecture
    • available bandwidth to perform self test, and
    • application of information redundancy techniques

     may decide whether or not you will be able to achieve ASIL D with your system.
