Hi,

My customer has implemented Stellaris LM3S5R31 in their new product. They want USB PID sub-license of TI.

Also regarding PID / VID they have a few queries -

1. Are they required to take different VID / PIDs for different products / projects?

2. Are they required to take different VID / PIDs for every unit they manufacture for a particular product?

3. What is procedure to apply for PID sublicense?

4. For what duration can they use it?

5. Is there any limitations or criteria?

Also, since LM3S5R31 is now NRND, which will be nearest suitable device from the Cotex M4 family without compromising on the features of the LM3S5R31?

We have a document that I believe addresses all of your questions regarding VID/PID sublicense. Please let me know if you have further questions after reviewing it.

As for a replacement device, check out LM4F230H5QR. It has a little smaller SRAM (32 kB vs. 48 kB), but it is in the same package and other peripherals are duplicated or improved.

Hi Sue,

Is it possible to use this VID/PID sublicense also for Tiva processors?

The document states the use on TI Stellaris® ARM® Cortex™-M3.

We will use a TM4C123G.
