DK-LM4F-DRV8312 Motor Specifications

Can the motor specifications and wiring diagram for the motor included in kit DK-LM4F-DRV8312 be posted.

The motor has the following on the label:

24VDC  4000RPM

Telco customer service stated they do not have the specifications for this model.

    If you want the Hall Sensor interface, please refer the following connection.

    5 wires:

    Red: VCC 3~5V

    Black: GND

    Green, Blue, White for U,V,W Hall output. Please try the sequence to get it align with the control logic.

    Appears that producing firm has, "NRND'ed" that motor.  (somehow, familiar)  You may ask that firm what they suggest as best "match" - and thus raise your odds of getting a spec with a device that may "remain active" - bit longer... 

    We should note that usually a motor is ordered, "to meet required application specs."  Method you present - acquiring motor and then, "seeking spec" - wins points for originality and "krazy making..."

    the original motor that was shipping in the first DRV8312 based kits (with Piccolo) was made by Anaheim Automation - model BLY172S-24V-4000

    They had some supply/delivery issues so Telco started making them. Personally I don't think either makes them, I'm pretty sure they are identical and come from the same factory in China.

    You can find most of the data you are looking for on Anaheim's website

    Using the Motor ID portion of InstaSPIN-FOC I can confirm that the Rs (l-l) is usually between 0.38 and 0.42 and room temp. It obviously changes as the wires are heated, though with this motor it isn't too bad.  The inductance is nominally 0.60mH, but inductance changes over current/torque/speed as well.  And this is the "average inductance", there is some saliency between D and Q axis in this motor, but pretty slight.

    The ID'd flux is typicaly in the 34mV/Hz range. Again, this changes all the time, but is in this range.  That means at 4000 RPM (266.66 Hz with 8 poles) there is  a Bemf of about 9V.  This motor will go about 5700 RPM @ 24V unloaded when using SVPWM, and about 6500 RPM with full BLDC, so that's 14.7V Bemf.  You can use a couple amps of field weakening and take it to 9K RPM, which puts you over 20V of Bemf.

    Note that for your rated Torque, you won't hit that with your 2.5A wall power supply.  You will need somethign that can deliver at least 3-4A.

    We handed them the Anaheim motor and spec sheet from the website and told them to build/sell us this same motor.  In my experience they are identical and you can use the Anaheim data.

  • Telco does not sell off the shelf, everything is custom by order. Be assured they have the specification from TI and will make as many as TI needs.  We ship this motor in multiple versions of the DRV8312 based kits and will likely stock by itself as we introduce additional low voltage motor kits to the market.  There is also a Teknic motor (currently ships with Hercules ARM Cortex R4 based DRV8301 kits) that will be used for low volage kits moving forward as well. These are our two "standard" low voltage motors. Hopefully this makes you warm, if not also fuzzy.

    I'm sorry Telco's customer service person was not able to share the specification with the original poster.

    Very well said - aged/demoted LX4F - bossing custom BLDC board - may have to spin-up beyond 20K RPM now - to cool.  (lunch-time, adult beverage often achieves requisite fuzziness...)  (as evidenced this/other ARM forums)
