Tiva M4F Development

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TM4C123GH6PM

I recently graduated from school and I am looking for a development platform and believe that the ARM M4F is ideal for my application. Looking at the http://www.ti.com/tool/ek-lm4f232 I notice several options for the tool chain, but I'm wondering other than Code Composer is there a tool chain not listed that works in Linux? Is the ICDI compatible with Linux under CC?

Additionally, I see that the Launchpad system is also available, but uses a limited version of the mcu pm vs pge.

  • Stephen,

I believe Sourcery CodeBench supports Linux. Currently, CCS does not support the Stellaris ICDI on Linux. The next version of CCS is planned to have support for it though, and some users have been able to get the current version of CCS to work. See threads here and here for more info.

You can use the "Parametrics" section of the TM4C123GH6PM and TM4C123GH6PM product pages to do a feature comparison. For the Launchpad there are several guides online on building your own GCC-based toolchain in Linux. This one details how to get it running with the Eclipse GUI.
