Latest nowFlash

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

Hi,

My customer would like to use the nowFlash utility for programming in their factory.

Could you give an information latest nowFlash version and download site?

Or, if you have some information that bettery utility for device(TMS470M) programming, please let me know.

Best regards,

Michi

  • Hi Michi,

I think you will find that nowFlash is no more. TI have released a new tool called UniFlash that runs in an Eclipse based environment. Download link and associated data can be found at http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Category:CCS_UniFlash#Download

  • Thanks Richard - exactly right.

I'd just like to elaborate on the comment about Eclipse;  I 've sensed some reluctance to move to Uniflash in other posts so the comment about Eclipse made me think the impression is that this package is a heavy-weight developer's tool like CCS is.

It's true that Uniflash uses the underlying components of CCS, but it is a much lighter weight package.

I checked my own HDD,  nowFlash was 40M,  uniflash 500M,  but CCS > 4G.   So its a bigger install than nowFlash but *much* smaller than CCS.

And you do get a command line interface as well as DSS scripting capability;  so you are not tied to the GUI.

    Best Regards,

    Anthony

  • Richard-san and Anthony-san,

    Thank you for your information.

I understood TI has not supported  nowFlash any more. I will recommend my customer to use Uniflash utility.

But my customer may hope to use nowFlash because of the sieze. Because my customer does not use CCS for developing.

They are using IAR IDE for developing.

If you know any advantage to use uniflash than nowFlash, please let me know.

Anyway, I appreciate your quick reply.

    Best regards,

    Michi

  • Hi Michi,

I'm not sure of the relevance to CCS in your last post. Whilst both use Eclipse as a base, they are separate installations (i.e. you have 2 Eclipse based installations). That said the user interface in UniFlash is very similar to that already provided by CCS.

    Regards,
    Richard

  • Hi Michi,

Also, the key reason to use UniFlash is that nowFlash is no longer supported.

For example, I tried a new chip with nowFlash and it didn't work because all new chips are supported by UniFlash only.

    Best Regards,

    Anthony
