Tiva with Ethernet and at least 96 kB RAM

Dear Texas Instruments,

Can we please know the no-obligation target date for Tiva with Ethernet (with integrated PHY) and at least 96 kB RAM?

Normally, it is considered poor marketing to preannounce a product since it will cannibalize existing products. However, in this case it is not an issue since Texas Instrumentals has already done the "cannibalizing" by declaring the entire M3 product range NRND. In fact, with such a gaping hole now, it would be good marketing to show some signs of filling the Ethernet/RAM hole. This will reduce the tendancy for developers to leave TI.

We don't need an exact date or a commitment. All we would like to know is it 3 months, 6 months, 12 months or 2 years away. Which is closest? Keeping us informed would be greatly appreciated (by your customers and your shareholders!).

    I am losing faith in this platform..... for things like that. Such a bad support, right now you can't get CMSIS working at the same time as grlib, and I have been stuck for a month.

    Think will go with STM32

    Why do I need an NDA?

    An NDA requires our legal people to examine it and make any necessary changes. Then your legal people need to examine those changes. It's a lot of work and, in this case, apart from keeping legal people employed, serves no purpose. Last time I did one of these it cost me and my company many lost hours.

    All the reasons an NDA may be required are not applicable in this case. The requested features are known to be coming (no surprise) and there is no risk of cannibalising existing products since the entire Texas Interments M3 series (with Ethernet and 96 kB RAM) is no longer available.

    Texas Instruments has done enough damage with making the entire M3 series no longer available. At least give us some indication of when we can expect the things we are currently developing with to return. Texas Instruments is undoubtedly bleeding customers and not answering questions like mine will only make matters worse. Please, become part of the solution...

    Texas Instruments has withdrawn from the market microcontroller features we need to get our job done.The decent thing would be to keep us openly informed. We're talking about decisions made at Texas Instruments that are costing careers. Unless things change quick smart, I will never be getting further entrenched with Texas Instruments. And I will be warning others.

    Stop for a moment and think of the damage that has ben done. Then stop again and think about how to look after your customers. Hint, start by answering my question.

    Show us there is a reason to stay with Texas Instruments (or why prospective customers should consider Texas Instruments devices).

     I also subscribe in full this writing, this is same for me and other developing for.... No need for NDA, this MUST BE ADDRESSED, no time to .. answer or switch out to TIVA...

     Limit from actual LM4S cannot execute complex things, I like some best project like Euphonics Hack, this is a good TI employee but all this is done as hobby as his writing.

    Can the Tiva Road Map for the next 12 months be published this month?

    And it has 256 kB RAM.

     Hi Vito, plenty of features too, LCD controller is a great peripheral for small appliances and also industrial panels, IMHO this one require more internal ram possibly a DRAM like on Solomon SSD series to reduce chip count and board complexity

    How can we have samples? Actually just DK is available, rework with reballing a BGA to make a prototype is not a good idea.

     I started design with TQFP128 part, for now just cad library, on next week I ask again distributor to plan a prototype before to buy a DK, too many obsoleted DK are on my shelf and I don't wish add another one. On case 129x delaay too much I can switch back to TM4C123 and wiznet... 129 has iee1588 too and this is a good way to do precise remote motion and timing.

     Is definitively better than LM3S but we need get hand on.

    Hi Robert,

    As detailed elsewhere in these forms, the LCD Display controller for the TM4C129 is only available on the BGA package. Not immediately obvious.

     Hi Vito, if you are in the EU area all chips are in limited stock from EBV, no other now appear to have sample nor prevision, from EBV site I got info about lead times that appear as 2  week.

      At this time mouser and Farnell appear to have some XM4C129xxx  part listed no stock and long lead times.
