I just received an email from Texas Instruments entitled "Change is hard – let us help make it easier!". It can also be found at http://links.mkt102.com/servlet/MailView?ms=NDE2ODQ4NTES1&r=MzUyNzgxOTI4MDES1&j=MTkwNjk4NjA4S0&mt=1&rt=0.
One of the statements is "TI introduced the Tiva C Series ARM Cortex-M4 MCUs April 15, 2013. The "C Series" represents the "connectivity" capabilities these MCUs offer and the markets for which they are appropriate." Without Ethernet, how can the claim of "connectivity" be made? Surely USB and Ethernet are the bare minimum to make a "connectivity" claim. (I had to check my calendar to see it wasn't April 1!)
Another statement is "You will see more ARM MCUs with specific capabilities introduced to the market over the next 18 months.". Does this mean that the wait for Ethernet is 18 months? This contradicts other TI posts that say it will be out in 7 months!
If Texas Instruments really wants to make the (unnecessary) Texas Instruments initiated change easier then we need a road map. Not, "please wait 18 months", but a detailed roadmap of which feature when. In particular, I need to know when Ethernet will come to the Tiva micros. And I need to know by the end of June 2013.
Does Texas Instruemnts have any respect for its customers?
