FlexRay - redundancy

Hi,

I'd like to connect 2 tms570LS20x with FlexRay, using both the available channels with a point to point topology.

The 2 channels are independent, and the redundancy must be handled by the application, am I correct?

Can there be any advantage from the reliability point of view in terms of safety if I "cross connect"  SystemA-ChannelA with SystemB-ChannelB instead of  connecting the 2 ChannelAs and the 2 ChannelBs together?
