Hie,

I am using the TMS570 HDK, And I want to Transmit and Receive LIN messages, over a LIN bus.

Is there any code example for LIN communication, in a similar way there are example codes for CAN?

An example would really help.

You can use the HALCoGen tool to generate the software you need. I am also attaching some example code for your reference.

similar to the examples given for CANComm,I2C etc in the Halcogen Examples.

We have LIN example for LC4357 device for which you can reference for your device. Go to HalCoGen->Help->Help topics->Examples. There are the example_Lin_Digital_Loopback.c and example_Lin_Digital_Loopback_interrupts.c

I am using the latest version of Halcogen - 04.05.02
Its not there in this halcogen version.

Can you please attach the code file along with the instructions on how to generate halcogen code ?

Hi Neeraj,
You need to first create a LC4357 project and then go to HalCoGen->Help->Help topics->Examples.

Or you can just go to HalcoGen->Examples and you will find device folders under which the TMS570LC43x you will find the two examples I mentioned.

Hi Charles,

I have one more query about LIN.

Using the example code, without using can transceiver, whatever the tx data is being transmitted to rx data. It is unlike CAN communication, where i have to use can transceiver. It surprised me as well. Also, i didn't get any signal on tx and rx pin of this launchpad. Can you please explain why is it like this ?

Actually, i want to test LIN transceiver by comparing the tx and rx data. I want to send the tx data using can transceiver to rx pin and then compare these two data.

How can i do that ?

The example is in internal loopback mode. Perhaps this is the reason that you don't see the tx signal. Once you are familiar with the LIN example you can modify it to be in non-loopback mode. You should see LIN tx/rx signals on the booster pack expansion connector once you connect to your transceiver. See below J6 connector for LIN1TX/LIN1RX.

Actually, i am new to this LIN protocol and also my final project deadline is very close.

In the example, there is a call to linEnableLoopback(linREG1,Digital_Lbk). You just comment this line to disable loopback mode. Try this and see if you are seeing TX activity on the pin. You should be able to connect the TX pin back to RX pin on the launchpad and reuse the example.

I already did this one but it is still not working.
I also thought that commenting linEnableLoopback(linREG1,Digital_Lbk) should work.
But unfortunately, its not the case.

Before commenting linEnableLoopback(linREG1,Digital_Lbk), it was working fine with any transceiver.

But i want to use transceiver as i have to test it. So, i commented linEnableLoopback(linREG1,Digital_Lbk), but there is no signal on tx and rx pin.

Is there any other way ?

I just replied you on the other post. As I said in the other post, I'm able to transmit the data from TX to RX bin with the internal digital loopback disabled. I simply connected the TX and RX pin together on the board. I don't have the transceiver. So you might want to check first if it works without the transceiver than investigate if it is transceiver related.
