Hi,
I want to connect 2 tms570LS2xx using FlexRay.
I cannot use a flexray transceiver, for several reasons. Which line driver can I use for the physical connection? An LVTTL buffer, or an optocoupler?
Thanks, best regards
Massimo

Hi Massimo,
The flexray transceiver is to realize the physical interface between flexray node module and the channel, and provides differential tx and rx capability to the bus. I don't know your application, but the regular line driver won't be fully compliant with the flexray electrical physical layer spec V2.1 revA.

QJ
Hi Qj,
thanks for the answer.
in this case I don't care about being compliant with any physical standard. I just have a point to point connection between 2 tms570ls20216, ChannelA to ChannelA and ChannelB to ChannelB.
Do I need any line driver in the middle a proper communicatio between the 2 devices?
Best regards
Massimo
Hi,
do we have an answer to this question please?
To be more specific:
In order to physically connect a couple of TMS570LS20216 (device #1 to another device #2) via point to point FlexRay connections as specified below,
TMS570LS20216 #1 FlexRay: Port A (Tx) -> TMS570LS20216 #2 FlexRay: Port A (Rx)
TMS570LS20216 #1 FlexRay: Port A (Rx) <- TMS570LS20216 #2 FlexRay: Port A (Tx)
TMS570LS20216 #1 FlexRay: Port B (Tx) -> TMS570LS20216 #2 FlexRay: Port B (Rx)
TMS570LS20216 #1 FlexRay: Port B (Rx) <- TMS570LS20216 #2 FlexRay: Port B (Tx)
can I use direct RX-TX port connections with simple buffers thus avoiding usage of a standard Flexray transceiver ?
Thanks,
Massimo
Hi Massimo,
I have tried using RS 485 transceivers in the past in a lab environment and had a network running with it.
As QJ pointed out, surely this does not meet the FlexRay physical layer requirements, but it seemed to work fine for a trial.
