Customer's Hercules experience and it's added value

Hi,

I have some questions about the Hercules family of processors for any customers using the parts.  Please see below...

For reference, the application I'm looking at the Hercules for is a medical device.  In the past, the only direct redundancy I've used (or seen used) in this type of application was dual ADCs.  These often created more problems then they solved.

Your feedback is appreciated!

Mike

Do the unique features of the Hercules family (dual-core lockstep cpu's, hardware BIST, ECC memory, etc) add value?

How many memory or cpu errors has the Hercules caught for you?

Have you experienced any "false alarms" with the lock-step, ECC memory, etc?

How much more complexity does it add to start-up, background checks, the overall software architecture, etc?

Other thoughts about the features of this processor family?
