stellaris launchpad: Program not running outside the DEBUG

I have a Stellaris Launchpad that has been behaving unexpectedly lately. After loading any program (Using CCS, V5.2.1.00018), it runs fine in Debug mode and also after terminating it but when i press the RESET or power it up again after disconnecting, it does not run at all. i've also tried running the Lab3 program provided in the 'Stellaris Launchpad Workshop' to blink the LEDs but to no avail.
