XDS100v2 10/20-pin ARM Emulator driver install problem

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3505

I have an odd problem that I hope someone may be able to shed some light on.

I have 2 XDS100v2 Emulators - on for the 20-pin CTI connector taht I am using with a Sitara AM3505 and a one with the 10 and 20-pin ARM connectors that I am using with a Stellaris LM4F5HQD/Tiva microcontroller.

The XDS100v2 20-pin CTI connects and works just fine on my Windows XP (32-bit) laptop, but when I connect the XDS100v2 10-pin ARM emulator it does not!

The TI XDS100 Channel A and Chanel B list just fine in Device Manager, but if I attempt to reinstall the drivers I get a "Cannot install this hardware because the wizard cannot find the necessary software" - even if I direct device manager to a freshly extracted subdirectory of the drivers.

Any thoughts?

BTW - I have a desktop/workstation (Windows 7 64-bit) that loads the drivers fine and works with this emulator.

Thank you,

Kevin Taberski

  • Kevin,

Unfortunately, we in the Tiva/Stellaris group don't have much of a hand in the driver side implementation of the XDS100v2.  There's a great post about connecting the XDS100 to our MCUs that can be found at http://e2e.ti.com/support/microcontrollers/tiva_arm/f/908/t/158121.aspx, but if you're having issues getting windows to communicate with the XDS, you would probably have better luck posting about it in the Code Composer Studio forum, found at http://e2e.ti.com/support/development_tools/code_composer_studio/f/81.aspx.

I am very sorry for having to give you a redirect as opposed to being able to answer your question here, but unfortunately the group that handles the XDS100v2 to windows interaction is far removed from the group that handles the Tiva and Stellaris microcontrollers.

If you're not able to get any help from the CCS forum, please let me know, and I'll make sure we find someone who can help you with this issue.

  • I'll post in the CCS forum as you suggested.

My latest attempt is to let CCS update, but I get this error:

    No repository found at http://www.blackhawk-dsp.com/updates/ccsv53.

Indeed, I can't access ANY of Blackhawk's web site: http://www.blackhawk-dsp.com/

    How weird.

    For a reaon I can't explain, I don't have a ftdi directory under ~\ccsv5\ccs_base\common\uscif

Now, I'm just trying to get a copy of this directory - any idea of where I can get these drivers?

    Thank you,

    Kevin Taberski
