PCB considerations for unused TMS570 pins

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS570LS3137

Hi,

A PCB manufacturer is suggesting I remove the pads for all unconnected TMS570LS3137 pins, these unused pins (around 80 in total) consist of the peripherals I've not needed in my design.

Would this cause any stability, reflowability or mechanical issues?  Does TI have any design recommendations/guidelines regarding this?

Thanks,

Alan

  • Hi Allan,

Some "NC" balls (or pins) are not connected to any internal logic and can be connected to the ground or left open without affecting the functionality of the device. Some "NC" balls (or pins) may be internally connected to some functionality, It is recommended for such balls (or pins) to be left unconnected. Leaving the "NC" balls (or pins) unconnected with pads or without pads doesn't affect the device's operation.

    Regards,
