getting data from the uart to to variable

i kind of gave up of trying to put my own spi modules into that example, the commands and the whole project seem pretty complex...

i just want to connect to a chip thru spi, and be able to read the registers using the uart.

is there any code that i can use to custimize it to my needs?

if it's the same as the file in the stllarisware folder (what is the difference between stellaris and tiva?) i have seen it, the problem is to add uart ability into it, i got the impression that i will have to spend some time to learn the depth of those functions and the board (as i said earlier, i am new to stellaris, i programmed on some other microcontrollers), i might try once more but it seem to be too complex.
