Free compiler for Tiva Launchpad without time-limit?

I placed an order for:
Tiva C Series LaunchPad Evaluation Kit

The software folder points to 4 different free compilers:
EK-TM4C123GXL-CCS
EK-TM4C123GXL-IAR
EK-TM4C123GXL-KEIL
EK-TM4C123GXL-CB

I downloaded the one from IAR. But the license expired before the Kit arrives.

Is any of the other three compiler not time-limited? I do not mind code-size-limit. But I am slow and cannot use a time-limited license.

Thanks.

  • Hi there - appreciate your many - multi-forum contributions.

IAR "Kickstart" should provide a "time unlimited" but 32KB C code-size limit version - minus such a license.  (or if this has recently changed - such license should be free & reasonably easy to obtain)

We're fortunate to have multiple seats - paid IAR - find it super.

Like you - "racing against time-clock" - never fun/easy...  The Kickstart - time unlimited version should serve your needs.  (recall that you know/use ASM - no such code size restriction is enforced by IAR - in that usage!)

Should you bump against IAR issues - post here - we can supply screen caps which may well assist.  (note: our usage is via StellarisWare - LX4F devices...)

    Bon chance, mon ami...

  • cb1-mobile,

Thank you. The version of IAR I got (and expired) was from TI Tiva Launchpad wiki. I will try to get the Kickstart directly from IAR.

I live in the mountains and have very slow internet access. I have to go out to do the download. It will take a while before I can report back here.

    Thanks again and best regards,

  • OCY,

If you're using the Tiva-C launchpad, you can use CCS without code-size or time limitation under the "free license".

  • Of course IAR, Keil, several others are vendor agnostic.

Sorry state of M3 (NRND), no M0, and slowed roll-out of M4 (i.e. LX4F) makes "multiple sources" appealing.

And - unlikely that one vendor will - at all times - have the best fit/performance/price/availability - for each/every application...

IAR/Keil long have supported SWD (faster & saves 2 GPIO) - absent in "suggested" IDE...

  • Michael S.,

Thanks for the info., I will try that too.
