Differences between TMS570LS20xxx and TMS570LS21xx/LS31xx MCU

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS570LS20216

Hi there,

We've used the TMS570LS20216 in several of our existing projects but want to move to the newer 65nm TMS570LS21xx/LS31xx MCU for new design. Obviously we want to be able to reused existing drivers of the TMS570LS20216. We've heard that both MCU use the same programming model (what that means, I don't really know).

Other than the newer F021 Flash Module difference, is there any other significant difference that I should know or I can use existing peripherals driver as it?

What is the difference between the FMzPLL Calculator and the FPLL Calculator and why both of them are available for a given TI utility installation?

With TMS570LS20216, we use FMzPLL Calculator v3.4 to determine the PLLCTL1 and PLLCTL2 registers, can I use the same version for this purpose for the newer MCU?

Are all existing TMS570LS20216 peripherals available in the newer MCU? Are they at the same memory addresses or locations?

Appreciate a quick insight on those questions ...

Many thanks!

  • Chuck,

    (1) The Flash is different, you need to use a different version of Flash API.

    (2) There is also some change in PLL, I would suggest you to compare the PLL section in TRMs.

    (3) All peripherals on TMS570LS20216 are supported on TMS570LS21xx/31xx.

    Thanks and regards,

    Zhaohong
