Hello,
I'm new to RM48x family and to the forum so please excuse if this question was already asked:
Does the 144-pin (PGE package) version of RM48L952 have any External Memory Interface? Or any way to add some extra memory?
I wanted to put a 64Mb SDRAM Module, the IS42616400F like in the RM48 HDK (which had an RM48l950 with the 337-pin BGA package).
From the datasheet, I'm guessing that I don't have an EMIF interface (only if I look at the pin description) for the PGE version.
Unfortunately it isn't very clear in the PGE package that you don't have x,y,z features, interfaces/etc.
The product info: http://www.ti.com/product/rm48l952 and http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/RM48_HDK_Kit
Thank you very much,
Ion
Hi Ion,
You are right. 144PGE package doesn't have EMIF module. The terminal function tables for PGE shows all the modules availiable on this device.

Hi QJ,
Thank you for your answer.
Please, can you tell me, if there is any way to add any extra memory to this 144PGE version?
Is there a memory module which can be interfaced with the 144PGE RM48L952?
Thanks,
Ion
Ion,
144 package doesn't have EMIF interface, but it has 3 MibSPI[1/3/5]. You can try SPI-compatible SRAM or SPI-compatible NOR flash.

QJ
I am not aware of any SPI based SDRAM chips.
If you want to use SDRAM, you will need to go to the ZWT package.
Regarding SDRAM chips, they are standardized. You want PC-133 class chips.
You could look at http://www.issi.com/US/product-dram-SDR.shtml for 4Mx16 (64MBit) parts to get 8MBytes.
