LM4F232H5QD PWM problem

Hello,

I am currently trying to create a PWM for the LM4F232H5QD that will control a solenoid.

In order to cause the solenoid to compress in, it needs to be at 17 volts for an extremely small amount of time, then it will go back to 0 volts.

I have a code set up but it seems like the only voltage I can get is around 3V. Is it possible for me to use a external DC supply to somehow raise the output voltage of the board, or is it not possible to run this solenoid on this board at all.

Andrew,

The output voltage of the device is limited to 3V. It is possible to drive the solenoid with the board -- you will just need some kind external transistor to switch that voltage. Here is a project from Adafruit that uses a solenoid and a MOSFET with detailed circuit diagrams:
