Hi Jian,

It looks like you got API call error. In TMS470M UART bootloader, bl_flash.c has some functions to call flash API. Can you please use debug mode to see where the problem is? I think it is waiting for the erase status.

I commented out all API flash routines.  

After sending binary file from hyperterm, software debugger runs  inside receive_packet function of bl_ymodem.c file, it reaches the 1st function "key = UART_getChar(sci, PACKET_TIMEOUT);"  the variable key always returns -1, which means UART did not read anything from hyper-term.

After I press "CANCEL" button from hyperterm window, then the UART_getChar function returns 0x18(CAN) character.

Somewhere is wrong with sending the binary file.

Please run step by step for bl_flash.c. I guess some of your code was jumped over or skipped.  Did you put all the API obj to RAM (check the obj names in memory map file, please refer to my cmd file). The proble occurs at  at erase stage.

Can you please try this new project which use the latest flash API (2.00.01)? The project was compiled using CCS5.4 and CGT5.1, and at release mode.

Hi QJ,

I only have TMS470R1B1M controller and use IAR for ARM compiler.  So cannnot run the project you provided.  I am only importing your UART communication source code from "http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/RM48_HDK_Kit" to my project without any API module.

I believe that I only have some issues on the binary file sending from hyperterm if you see my previous questions carefully.  It is on the UART side, not on the Flash API side.

Hi Jian,

In UART bootloader, I define the length of the file name as 64, and the number of file size as 16. If your file name (including the path name) is longer than 64, it may cause the ymodem_receive function get a wrong file size. Can you please check how long your filename is? Thanks

The path is: "C:\Users\Jian\Desktop\RITController.bin".  So length is 39 including path.  Less than 64.  

At least the binary file should send some ymodem commands to the firmware to start, but it did not.

I tried to replica your problem, and asked another co-worker to do so. I did gt the problem for UART bootloader. Let me do one more test on another PC. What OS are you using on your machine?

Me too have issue but with Windows 7. I successfully load the UART bootloader to the HMDK and actually execute it from the development kit MCU. From the menu, I have 5 options. I used both ZOC Terminal Emulator 6.x and Windows Hyperterminal copied from Windows XP.

Both options 4 and 5 work properly. With ZOC, when I try to query the binary code from the MCU using the Ymodem protocol, nothing is received from the MCU. When using Hyperterminal, I do receive the file of 3 MB (3072 KB) but Hyperterminal didn't receive the end of transfer code from the MCU, so it never ends. If I cancel the transfer, the 5-option menu will not show and the link is hung.

I though this might help in troubleshooting ... it might be my end though.

In UART bootloader, I use option 1 to download image (binary file) to flash. Using Ymodem protocol, firmware does not receive anything from binary file.

I am not doing uploading, I am doing downloading.
