TMS570 and Debug modes - SWO + SWD (SWV)

Dear Support,

according to the ARM ARM (architecture reference manual ;-)) in the version DDI0406C:

ADIv5 (ARM Debug Interface v5 Architecture Specification) interface is not required for compliance with ARMv7. ADIv5 supports both a JTAG wire interface and a low pin-count Serial Wire Debug (SWD) interface.

I would like to know whether TI implementation of Cortex-R4F does support SWD interface.

Sorry, we do not support SWD interface in any of our current R4F based Hercules devices.

Hi Jiri,

Are you aware of any tool vendor who supports v7R targets using SWD? Though this is architecturally possible in ARM v7 with v5 ADI, we have not found any tool vendors willing to support such.

Keep in mind that SWV is not part of SWD - SWD is only the debug interface protocol. SWV is a trace interface which is custom to a few ARM v7M products at this time.

Hi Jiri,

There's definitely interest in lower pin count debug, but we have the chicken vs. egg problem - you need silicon and debugger to make it work.

Are you specifically attached to SWD or are you willing to consider other low pin count protocols as well (cJTAG)?
