Hi,

To begin a new design design with RM48, I use RM48 evaluation kit but software versions shipped with this kit seem to be expired.

The following versions seem to be the right updates :

o halcogen 3.6.0

o CCS 5.4.0

o Free RTOS 7.4.0 (used with halcogen)

Can you confirm these versions are the right ones to be updated and recommended to start a new design ?

Yes, it should be okay since all the three of them are pointing to latest versions available currently.

Hi,

Ok, although if I upgrade free CCS version from RM48 HDK to CCS5.4.0, is it still free with the kit ? without time limitation ? or should I need to buy a complete CCS version ?

Zanzibar,

Any CCS revision v4 and beyond has the same emulator-based free license option. If memory serves the hdk has onboard xds100 which is covered under the free license option with no time and code size limitations.

If you download CCSv5.x from this page: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Category:Code_Composer_Studio_v5

when you install you will be able to select the free XDS100 license. The only limitation is on the emulator speed, not code size or time.
