XDS100v2 - connection problem.

Hello.

First of all i would like to apologize for my bad english. I'm still working on that :)

Couple days ago i bought a Hercules LaunchPad with RM42L432PZ microcontroller. I/ve installed a CSS 5.4.0 and HALCoGen. I'm working in Windows XP SP3.

After build i've choosed Debug, but there wasn't any connection to microcontroller. CSS tried to load a program, but there wasn't any progress. After 2-3 minutes this screen appears: http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/3927/kwo3.jpg

I've made a Connection Test. Results: 8081.con_test.txt

Until now everything looks good. Then i've checked VID/PID. It was VID:0404, PID:AD0C. I've changed PID with FT_Prog to 6010. After that i've made Connection Test once again and it passed without errors. But this hasn't solved the problem.

Then i've installed "Hercules Safety MCU Demos". It works fine with my LaunchPad.

Then i've installed "UniFlash v2" and tried to upload .out file from ADC project. And this is the result: http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/3897/y9pb.jpg

Please provide the solution for this issue.

Hello Lukasz,

From what you have described above, I can see that you are able to get connected to the debug sub-system properly. But when Flash erase/program is initiated you are facing this issue.

So can you pls try going to debug configuration's and then on to Program tab, then select load symbols only and re do the same exercise and let us know if you are able to connect to the device.(This essentially bypasses the flash programming and just connect to the device).

Hello Lukasz,

Now this confirms that you are able to connect to the system properly and flash programming is whats the concern.

Since I'm not able to replicate this scenario, we will try to do few other checks.

1. Using uniFlash go to Erase option's, just choose Bank-0, Sector-0 and make sure if all other bank/sector's are un-checked. Attempt an erase and check if it goes through, just to make sure if in case you do not have the right configuration file corresponding to the device which is causing this error.

2. If the above doesn't work as well, then please send across the target configuration file, so that I can forward your issue to our flash experts.

Ok. This is the result of erasing bank-0, sector-0. http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/9065/i95u.jpg

It took about 2,5minutes to erase just one sector. Is it too long, isn't it? Then I tried to erase other sectors separately and it works.

I think there is an issue with communication between microcontroller and xds100. I've tried to reprogram programmer's CPLD but it says http://img542.imageshack.us/img542/643/v3ml.jpg

Hi Lukasz,

That certainly does not look good, can you pls help me with the connection properties of the XDS100V2 emulator, mainly with the JTAG clock frequency. May be a snapshot of the connection properties. Thanks.

Hi,

I have the same problem. Is the problem solved and what is the solution?

I recently bought a Hercules Launchpad (with TMS570LS04x).

I tried project0 but I am not able to start debugging because I always get the following messages:

CortexR4: GEL Output: Memory Map Setup for Flash @ Address 0x0CortexR4: Writing Flash @ Address 0x00000000 of Length 0x000043CC CortexR4: Flash operation timed out waiting for the algorithm to complete. Operation cancelled. CortexR4: Error Writing Flash @ Address 0x00000000 of Length 0x000043CC CortexR4: GEL: File: C:\MG\InstallSetup\TI\Project0\N2HET\TMS570LS04_Proj\Debug\N2HET_LS04.out: Load failed.

I also downloaded the project0 here http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Hercules_LaunchPad:_Project_0 and tried it. But I have the same problems.

The Hercules Demo runs without problems: First the flash is erased and then programmed.

I am using CCS 5.5.0 on windows 7 pro x64 (vmware).
