Hi,

can someone explain what PORTASGN field in DMA control packet is meant for?

In the TRM there are two Port Assign Register (PAR0 an dPAR1) whose values are forced to be 1xx/0xx for each channel (so I don't understand what's the meanings) but the value of the register does not seems to match with the value of the PORTASGN field (at least on my yet-working project).

Do this value must be forced to a specific value depending on channel used? With which logic?

There are example of DMA use somewhere?

Matteo,

On Hercules devices, Only port B is available.

Hi Zahong,

this means that on Hercules the PORTASGN must be ever set '4' regardles to the other DMA settings or there are some other dependencies?

Note that in the Halcogen generated function dmaSetCtrlPacket the PORTASGN field is used like this:

    i = channel >> 3U;
    j = channel -(i << 3U);
    j = 7U -j;
    j = j<<2U;

    dmaREG->PAR[i] &= ~(0xFU<<j);
    dmaREG->PAR[i] |= (g_dmaCTRLPKT.PORTASGN<<j);

Can you help me to understand which value must be used and why?

Being only one port why the field cannot be leaved to a fixed value?

It is not set to a fixed value because the same DMA is used on other devices which has port A. I will pass your post to HALCoGen team to answer your software question.

As far as I understand this means that on the TMS570 Hecules only '4' can be used.

Right?
