N2HET, BR instruction: Difference of the events "ZERO" and "EQ, Z"

Hi.

My question is regarding the N2HET module, of the TMS570LS31x.

In spnu499b.pdf, page 852, in "Table 20-59. Branch Condition Encoding for BR", is stated

in line 5: "ZERO 1 0 0 0 0 If Zero flag is set"
in line 11: "EQ, Z 0 0 1 0 1 Equal or Zero: Z==1"

IMHO in both cases is checked if the Zero flag is set. So IMHO they are the same. But what is this good for?

If they are not the same, I would ask you to describe the difference between these two conditions.

Or is in line 11, in column "Branch Condition" something missing?

They're redundant. The ZERO condition was available on NHET and HET.

When we added the full CNZV and ALU capability on N2HET, we added EQ,Z but I guess I didn't catch the redundancy.

Next time, need you to review our spec ;)
