I/O pin availability on xxx4 parts greater than on xxx5 or xxx7 parts

Hello,

Could somebody please explain why the summary data for the TMS570LSxxxx-PGE family says that the xxx4 parts have 64 GPIO pins whereas the xxx5 (Flexray) and xxx7 (Flexray and Ethernet) both have 58 pins.

The datasheets seem to show the same pin assignments and the IOMM does not affect the Flexray pins which would be the obvious answer.

I would be interested to see a complete list of the pins that are qualified as GPIO.

Hello Richard,

The MCU device configuration with FlexRay controller is implemented such that 6 of the GIO pins are replaced with the FlexRay signals. This is a bond-out difference, so that those 6 GIO pins are no longer available for input or output. Hence the 58 general-purpose I/O pins instead of 64.

Hi Sunil,

Thanks for your quick response. Two things:

1. I can only count 57 GPIO pins if you discount Flexray pins.

2. I can't see anywhere in the TRM how you would use the Flexray pins on the TMS570LS02124 for example, as GPIO.

I have added a spreadsheet showing what we believe to be GPIO pins.

Hi Richard,

You missed the GPIO functionality of the ECLK pin. That would make it 58.

FlexRay pins cannot be configured as general-purpose I/Os.

Thanks for your response. From your response, datasheets should probably say 58 GPIO for TMS570LSxxx4 parts rather than 64.
