SCI speed over USB to PC

I'm trying to communicate with my TMDXRM46CNCD over the USB/JTAG/Serial connection. I can run up to 115200 baud, but not any faster. When I try faster baud rates, I don't get any data out of the processor and back to the PC. The processor behaves like it's not receiving data (simple one byte commands).

The SCI on the RM46 should go to about 3M baud and my experience with USB/Serial connections is that they usually go up to 921600 baud.

Does anyone know what the limit should be? And what I might be doing wrong? How can I get the baud rate higher?

Looks like my problem was the serial terminal I was using. I have it working at 460800 now.

Michael,

I am glad. The fastest baud rate for the SCI defined by the VCLK frequency as f(VCLK)/32.

Hi Michael,

Could you please upload your serial terminal software? I need one for high speed SCI interface but all I can find have a max limit at 115200.

Hi Eric,

I was using the serial interface on a demo board. I've had "real" hardware for a long time now and have stopped using the serial interface. I was using Ubuntu 12.04 and would have using something from the package manager, probably screen or putty, maybe gtkterm.
