failure rate

Hi. What is the failure rates of RM48L950 processor? Searched in datasheets, but couldn't find it.

or some other parameters, like  the Number of transistors, the junction temperature

thx

  • Marlon,

Just doing some housekeeping and see nobody replied to this post.  Did you ever get an answer?

  • For the ICs there is two modes Open and short, the number of FIT is for the both modes? For example for LM3481QMM/NOPB we have 6.9 FIT.
  • Hello Otimane,

Which FIT rate are you considering? There are different types of FIT including permanent, transient and package FIT rates. Within those, the FIT rate that is of concern for Functional Safety are random failures which can be open/shorts, oscillation and drift, bit flips, communication failures, etc. The faults that we consider from a functional safety view are those as identified in the functional safety standards (ISO26262 and IEC61508).

Once we consider the potential for random faults we identify diagnostics that can be used to detect these faults as well as tests for the diagnostics themselves (latent fault determination). Once we determine the diagnostic, the faults are considered safe faults and pose less or no risk dependent on the coverage metrics. The risk is reduced provided the integrator follows the recommended diagnostics for each safety path in the device or provides justification why certain diagnostics were not implemented.

The total FIT is a factor of all the different types of faults but reduced by the safe faults since these can be found and handled according to the prescribed safety mechanisms. We have an FMEDA tool that is provided under NDA through our SafeTI Private Forum that can be used to customize the FIT rates to your application based on the features that are used, your mission profile of your application, which diagnostics are implemented, and any additional custom diagnostics that are implemented at the system level.
