Designing for ETM trace on RM48L952PGE

You need the MIPI connector to have enough pins to get a useful trace out of the RM48.  This has to do with the type of IO used for the trace (it's LVCMOS at ~45MHz not SERDES or something really fast) and the speed of the processor being ~200MHz.  

OK, thank you Anthony, is there any guidance on how to integrate the MIPI connector with the RM48?

You may be interested to take a look at ARM's recommendations for the trace port physical interface in their ETM architecture specification.  The R4 ETM conforms to the ETM v3 architecture.

I'll give a different answer than Karl, and it's really depending on the trace solution that you plan to use.

If you are planning to use Code Composer, then you need this emulator:

And it's got the MIPI 60 header with a description in:  http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/spru655i/spru655i.pdf

But you should copy the MIPI header from the HDK schematic.  There's a slight 'shift' in the data, you'll see on the HDK the ETMTRACECTL is in the position of bit 0 of trace per the doc above.  

Again, if you're looking at a CCS solution best bet is to copy the header from the HDK schematic since this is the board that is being used to check out the trace solution.

But, If you're going a different path like maybe lauterbach trace you might want to look at that ARM doc and contact lauterbach for details on their pinout.

I've been reading the 560v2 Trace Analyzer Users Guide and the functionality of the tool is ticking a lot of boxes. It is delivering at first glance functionality comparable to other commercial offerings at a much lower price.

Is there any representatives in TI who can give me a demo of the 560v2 running on the Hercules HDK to allow me to see the tool in action?
