TRF7970ATB Compatibility with Tiva C

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP-7970ABP, TRF7970A, MSP-EXP430F5529LP

Hi,

I'm curious to know whether or not the the TRF7970ATB is compatible with the Tiva C Launchpad. I'm aware that there's a boosterpack also based on TRF7970A that is compatible with all launchpads called the DLP-7970ABP. However, I'm more interested in the TRF7970ATB since it appears to have a u.fl connector for attaching an external antenna. The page said that the TRF7970ATB works with "MSP430 based MSP-EXP430F5438, MSP-EXP430F5529 boards, and the ARM Cortex-M4 based boards, or any other TI embedded microcontroller platform with the EM socket headers populated." I just wanted to confirm though before I decide to make a purchase.

Thank you in advance.

  • Hi Kyle,

Tiva Launchpad has SPI interface that you can connect your TRF7970ATB. Verify if the connectors of the Tiva Launchpad is pin compatible with TRF7970ATB. You can check at the Tiva Launchpad's User's Manual.

  • The TRF7970ATB is hardware compatible with Tiva C.  I am not aware of any TI published software yet that supports this combination.

We are working on a software example for the next release of TivaWare but i cannot yet confirm if that example will be ready for the TivaWare release by our internal deadline.

  • Alright, cool, thank you very much. I guess I'll wait a bit longer to see if the Tiva C gets supported, but if it isn't I'll just settle with purchasing a MSP-EXP430F5529LP, which if I'm correct does support the NFCLink firmware. Again, thanks for the answers.
