Lenovo Windows 7 64 does not recognize Stellaris EK-LM4F120

Connected it through Debug to the accompanying USB cable into laptop's USB port. Moved the switch to Debug setting. The lights go on as expected, with one light changing. The buttons work as expected too. However, my computer is not recognizing the Launchpad by flashing the "USB device not recognized" text and message.

If I open the Device Manager, the only new thing that appears there is an "Unknown Device" with a yellow triangle with an exclamation point under the category of "Universal Serial Bus Controllers." Nothing else that is new appears in the Device Manager.

Attempts to update drivers  whether through the "USB Device not recognized"  or through the Device Manager have been unsuccessful with Windows returning the message that it has determined that the drivers are up to date. (I have attempted to update the drivers through both the Keil 4 software I have and through the Stellaris ICDI bundle from your site.

I already tried the same thing with all 3 of my laptops USBs. (I don't have another system here to try it on more machines.) I turned the laptop off and unplugged everything from it, leaving it for half an hour and replugging everything, incl. the battery. I tried the tricks with .inf file described on another forum here. Nothing seems to work.

NB: I am not a professional programmer, I do not have more than one laptop or multiple cables to try them. I wanted to use the Launchpad for an edX.6.01 "Embedded Systems" class, but can't make it work. (I followed their procedure to a t. In course fora no one seemed to have quite the same problem.) Will be able to see the response only in the evening.

Please help.
