SW debug requires reset line?

Hey guys quick question about the twi wires debug available on the TM4C1230 serie:

Do I need anything else than than the SWDIO and SWCLK lines in order to debug the chip with and XDS100?

Looking at the official documentation I would say no: http://www.arm.com/products/system-ip/debug-trace/coresight-soc-components/serial-wire-debug.php

Hello Silvere,

Please make sure that XDS100 supports the two wire interface. Please note that UART will not be functional if you plan to use the XDS100.

Thanks Amit I actually just realised that SWD isn't compatible with the XDS100. Instead I'd like to use the TIVA launchpad pinout but only JTAG is available on the DBG header...

I guess I'll have to go for JTAG instead. Have you guys planned on working on SW debug features in the future?

The SW debugger is available as part of Keil IDE.

Thanks but I only work on Linux which isn't supported by Keil...

In that case you need to use standard JTAG.

While that is likely true - a more complete statement is that IAR (and possibly other) longer existing IDEs have supported SWD for quite some time.

Note further that SWD supports an SWO (trace) output - enabling further debug capability...
