Relationship of software tools and CCS ARM compiler version

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: HALCOGEN

Hi all.

Can I use the Software toolls(HALCoGen, Autosar MCAL from TI, Compiler Qualification Kit etc...)

regardless of the CCS ARM Compiler varsion?

Regards,

FSSer

  • Hello FSSer,

There is only one consideration that I am aware of regarding the compiler version as part of use with our Hercules SafeTI software and that is as part of the compiler qualification kit (CQK).  The CQK takes advantage of the instrumentation feature of our ARM compiler.  We don't make instrumentation a common feature with our compiler, releases, however.  As of this time, the compiler version 5.0.5 is offered as its instrumented version which license is activated when the the CQK license is purchased.

If this is something that you care about then I suppose that you may want to use compiler v5.0.5 for your development even when not using the instrumented version for the CQK.

Otherwise, Halcogen, MCAL, the Math Library etc. should not care which version of the compiler is used.  In general, of course, the newer versions contain bug fixes and may offer better optimizations in some cases.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Brian,

Because I am not good at English, please tell us about the following.

CQK I use them TI ARM v5.1.4?
CQK Do I have to use TI ARM v5.0.5 always?

    It is written as "
TI ARM Compiler v4.9 or later".(Link below)
    http://www.ti.com/tool/safeti_cqkit

I want you to tell me so uneasy Can you use really.

    Best, Regards

    FSSer

  • FSSer,

Sorry for any confusion that I may have caused.  You can, indeed, use "TI ARM Compiler v4.9 or later."

My recommendation is to use the very latest version of the compiler, if you can (that is, if your development tool flow has not already been frozen for safety or other configuration management purposes.)

  • Brian,

Thanks, I was able to understand!
