I don't think this is something that you can do effectively.

You can use the "Tools->Save Memory" menu to save the memory of the device to a .out file.

But it will be binary.  There's really no way to get the source back from this and build against it again.
You might be able to link against it, but  I'm not even sure about this because there won't be symbols. 

Sorry - you'll really need to use the original sources or link with a precompiled .lib file rather than dump the memory out of an already programmed part - to do something like this effectively.

If what you said is the case, then is there some other way then to get the original c-code that was used in the executable without reverse engineering it out of the executable.

You pretty much need to go to the author of the code.  If this is a TI provided demo then the source would be there unless there's a reason for it not to be there.  Did you check to see if there is any build directory included w. the code you're trying rebuild?

This was a TI provided demo, and I was looking through the directories to see if there was a "main.c" file or something like that. However there was none that I could see, i mentioned in the original post about the file path the executable came from, if that helps at all.

I have no idea where else to look for something like that, if you have any ideas they would be more than welcome.

Sorry - I don't have that folder.   Did you download it?  If so please provide the link. 
Or did it come on a CDROM of a kit - if that's the case pls. let me know what kit you ordered.

The program came from the CDROM that came with the DRV8301 motor drive kit. The control card I am using is the TMS570.
