What is pre-defined name?

Hi, I read the brochure, "Getting Started with the Tiva™ TM4C123G LaunchPad Workshop".

While reading about timers and interrupt, the brochure informed that to use the correct interrupt,

pre-defined names should be configured.

(I do not owe this brochure, but please understand me for using this picture.)

I'm just curious. What does pre-defined name do?

Is this only used for helping the compiler to go to the right interrupt mapping?
